So is contraction ever going to become a reality, or even a possibility?


I happen to think it will. As the TV bubble continues to burst and as football continues to be viewed by more and more parents as being a barbaric sport, programs and conferences may just begin to take this thing in another direction.

And also, as many have pointed out, there's a ton of problems with these megaconference set ups. VT and FSU are hosting eachother once a generation right now. We may as well not even be in the same league as them. Anything above 10 or 12 members is just not workable for sports like football.

I feel contraction will be the topic of discussion in about 10 years or so. And yes, the Wake Forests and BCs are going to be at the heart of these discussions. So comments like "Wake's gonna always have a home" or "Wake will never leave the ACC" are a bit naive.
